About Us

The journey to Dot Road has been a long trip, literally and figuratively.  Derek was born in San Diego, California but his parents quickly moved him and his brother to the quiet forests just North of Camas, Washington where they were raised until adulthood. It was at this time Derek first got introduced to gardening while watching and helping his Grandfather, Father & Mother tend to the family garden. He also frequently spent time on his Grandparents cattle ranch 40 minutes south in Oregon. Once grown, They decided they wanted to give SoCal a chance again so in 2014 they moved back to the land of palm trees.  They landed in an apartment just across the hall from Niki where she formed a neighborly bond with the boys’ mom, Selena.  On May 17, 2015, Niki ran into Selena outside who told her that Derek’s younger brother, Maxx, was killed in a motorcycle accident.  Niki was devastated for the neighbors she hardly even knew, especially since they were still so new to the area.  She reached out to Derek with a note on his windshield letting him know she was sorry for his loss and that she would love to show him around the city and hit up all the great hole-in-the wall Mexican joints. They did just that… and then some!  Derek would come over to Niki’s apartment after work and soon they were doing everything together.  One year to the day after Maxx passed away, Derek got down on one knee and asked Niki to marry him, turning a terrible day into a happy one.  A year after that, on the very same day, the two walked into a courthouse with their families and came out as husband and wife.  They lived in a tiny back house in Upland, CA, where Niki was born and raised. It was here that Derek first began to develop his passion for photography and soon, they were expecting their first son, Wyatt Nash.  In 2020 the young family picked up and moved to the West Valley of Phoenix, Arizona.  While in Arizona, they had another son, Weston, and Derek’s passion for gardening grew even more.  They had a backyard market garden that did well, even in the brutal heat.  His passion for photography also continued growing and he got better and better at taking beautiful photographs.  They also started attending church together as a family and their faith in The Lord became firm.  Derek knew that he wanted to turn gardening and photography into more than a hobby and that he wanted to get back to his country roots, so in 2022 the two took a trip to middle Tennessee, falling in love with a cute little white farmhouse on Dot Road.  2023 was the year the family packed up all of their belongings and made the long drive out to Springfield, setting down their family’s roots and some crops too!  It’s here on this property that we can’t wait to watch our boys grow, honor the Lord and his will and see our farm and vision come to life.  Thank you all so much for the support and for following along on the journey with us! In a time where the quality of food and the things added to it has become so questionable, it makes us feel extremely happy & blessed to be able to provide you the clean and healthy food we ALL deserve while also capturing and preserving lives most precious moments.
